Dnipropetrovsk–– Archbishop Ivan Yurkovych, apostolic nuncio to Ukraine, took responsibility for solving disputes over a Catholic church in Dnipropetrovsk, reported RISU’s Ukrainian-language website on 18 March 2008. During a press conference, the papal representative expressed his gratitude to high ranking foreign officials who support Dnipropetrovsk’s Catholic community and pledged to resolve the problem as soon as possible. However, the nuncio clarified that this is an endemic issue and preemptively declined international support.
RISU note: The Roman Catholic Community has struggled in vain for the property rights of St. Joseph’s Church since summer, 2007. The church building with a total of 654.8 square meters currently belongs to Dugsbery Incorporated, USA.
