VATICAN CITY, JULY 6, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI authorized the promulgation of the decrees that will open the path to canonization for two founders of religious institutes.
The Pope signed the decrees today upon receiving in audience today Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, prefect of the Congregation for Saints' Causes.
The Holy Father also authorized the promulgation of the decree of martyrdom for a group who died for their faith in Italy some 527 years ago.
He signed as well the decrees that attribute miracles to, or attest to the heroic virtue of, several candidates for beatification.
