Prayerful Art Show to include talks on iconography and the art of collecting and preserving limited edition prints as well as a display of Israeli and Judaica art

SOLON, Ohio-St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 36125 Aurora Road, invites everyone to its second annual Prayerful Art Show, May 9 and 10, 2003.  This year's show features over 50 works from 30 artists.  Nationally-known Eikona Studios iconographer, Christine Uveges, will speak at 8 p.m. on Friday night.  On Saturday, at 1 p.m., Dr. Alan Sterling will speak on printmaking, the value of limited editions, and tips for framing and preserving the art.  Israeli and Judiaca art from his private collection will be on display throughout the show.  Dr. Sterling previously owned a gallery in Florida and periodically allows showings from his private gallery.  He will soon be returning to Florida, so this is the last Ohio showing from his collection.

The show will begin Friday night with the celebration of Vespers at 6 p.m., followed by an opening reception at 7 p.m. before the presentation by Uveges.  Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The show is free and open to all.  Prior to the Saturday presentation, a luncheon will be served at 12 noon.  Menu will be soups, salads, and crepes.  Tickets, $5 per person, must be ordered in advance by calling the parish at 440-248-0417.  A silent auction will also be held in the parish hall in conjunction with the art show.  For info:  prayerfulart@hotmail.com; Linda Hritz, 330-562-8538, or Loretta Nemeth, 216-587-1994.
