Icon of Christ's Extreme Humility Death of Fr. Emil Masich of the Eparchy of Parma

ALLEN PARK, MI -- The Rev. Emil Masich, a priest of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma, Ohio, and a former Allen Park priest, died of cancer in Holy Family Home in Parma, on Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999.  Fr. Masich, 77, was ordained on Nov. 13, 1945, and joined St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church in Allen Park in 1956. For the next 25 years, he served as priest to the congregation.  After leaving St. Stephen in 1982, he served at three Ohio churches before retiring in 1995.  He earned a bachelor's degree from Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y., before attending St. Procopius Seminary in Illinois.  He is survived by two sisters, Anne Romanoff and Marian Safko.  The funeral will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 25th, at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio.  Burial will be in St. Macrina Cemetery in Uniontown, Pa.
